An article published in the the British Journal of Psychiatry in October 2005 found a significant difference in the brain structure of pathological liars. The frontal cortex of pathological liars have 26% more white matter than is the case in people who do not have a tendency to lie chronically.
At the age of ten there is a noted growth in white matter in a child’s brain. Thus, more white matter equals more lies. Autistic children have too little white matter in their frontal cortex. This explains why autistic children cannot lie.
