Tips on Potty Training

)If possible train during the summer time. Kids can play outside (bare-bottomed if they                  want)      and accidents does not become disasters. My son enjoyed it so much outside, he              actually  caught on quite quickly. But then he preferred to poo on the grass too. It took                  some effort to convince him to do it in the potty. We started putting the potty outside after          a while.
)Put plastic sheeting over sofas while your child is watching TV for example.
)If your child does not get to the toilet or potty on time take the potty to where he’s busy                  playing.

)Keep the potty trainee off carpets if possible.

)Girls tend to have a wee about 10 minutes after having a drink. Boys about half an hour later.
)Let your child wee before getting into the bath.
)Keep books handy to pass the time on the potty.

)Do not underestimate how much they need positive encouragement to keep going.

)Star charts and small treats boosts there sense of success and pride.

)Potty training while on vacation can work well. IF it is a relaxed, laid-back family holiday where you will be close to a potty or (non-public) toilet at all times. Normally, Daddy or Granny’s are also at hand to help and encourage. Potty training is time consuming

.
)Take your child to wee hourly to two hourly (depending on how much he drank) – but do not force him.
)Be patient and gentle; never forceful.
