When not to give a Enema to a child

Do not give a enema to child under the following circumstances:

  • rectal bleeding
  • suspected appendicitis (fever, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain)
  • vomiting
  • kidney disease
  • dehydration
  • electrolyte imbalance
  • within 7 days of the previous enema

If in any doubt, consult your child’s physician.
